Block Energy, LLC Expands Leadership Team, Welcoming New Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technical Officer

TAMPA, FL – July 24, 2023 – Block Energy, LLC, the world’s first distributed renewable energy platform for new communities of all sizes, is pleased to announce the addition of Paul Laberge as chief operating officer and the promotion of Chris Hooper to chief technical officer. With these additions to the company’s c-suite, BlockEnergy will further strengthen and expand its innovative solar plus storage microgrid platform.

In Laberge’s new role, he will be responsible for sales strategy, finance, and human resources. Hooper will be responsible for safety, design, manufacturing, and related supply chains for BlockEnergy™, as well as installation and ongoing operations of the microgrid system.

Paul Laberge has been with BlockEnergy’s parent company, Emera, since 2013 and was most recently the vice president of corporate development. Prior to joining Emera, Laberge spent three years at Emera Energy where he held the role of executive vice president for legal, regulatory, and public affairs. He has worked with Magellan Fuel Solutions Inc. as chief executive officer and executive vice president, corporate development and legal; and Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc. in roles as vice president, general counsel to executive vice president, corporate development and general counsel.

Chris Hooper has been with BlockEnergy since its inception in 2018 and was most recently its vice president of operations. Prior to joining BlockEnergy, Hooper was the chief executive officer of Cellufuel Inc., a senior operating consultant with ReEnergy Holdings and the group vice president, industrial development at JD Irving in Saint John, New Brunswick.
